Accountabili-buddy

Image
It could be funny that I normally get inspirations through some routines on a daily basis like when I am taking my bathe, during my morning meditations and when I am doing strength training. Today, the word accountabilibuddy  dropped [I have heard the word before, though].  Accountabilibuddy simply means an accountability buddy . To be accountable in the first place is the ability to be answerable or responsible for an action, it is the will to justify an action or a decision taken. It is that state of not excusing a flaw either it was caused by the culprit or an external force.  To be successful on this weight loss and healthy living lifestyle [even in life], one needs to be accountable for whatever happens. Don't be quick to put blame on others, when you accept the blame, you are being accountable and it is easier to make the right choices the next time such scenario occurs because you don't want to feel guilty anymore. I have heard a dozen blame trading on why some

You're Worth It

Image
It doesn't matter how good the plan or idea, nothing will work for you if you don’t believe in it. And more importantly, nothing will work if you don’t believe in yourself.  YOU ARE WORTH THE EFFORT! Find above the words for week 3 of our challenge, I really love this motivation statement because I have been there.

Don't Give Up

Image
You're bored. Frustrated. Exasperated. Tired. Just too busy to even think of trying to lose weight. You want to quit.  Don't despair. You've reached the point in your weight-loss project that truly determines whether or not you're going to get to your goal and stay there.

Desire to Eat

Image
Unlike cravings, the desire to eat or appetite is more physiological than psychological. An appetite is not a bad thing, in fact when we feel true hunger the desire to eat must rise before we can eat to satiety. A desire to eat is an appeal to consume food either because of hunger caused by true hunger or some emotional or hormonal imbalances in the body. In a desire to eat, there is a physiological stimulation which is being controlled from the brain to other parts within the process. This desire could be stimulated by some factors including but not limited to: 1. Pictures of food (Sight) 2. Seeing other people eat (Sight & Smell) 3. Time to eat (for those who have specific timings) (Biological clock) 4. Attempt to suppress a negative emotion e.g. boredom, anger, depression etc (Psychological) 5. Cravings 6. True Hunger These attitude to food are all controlled in the brain which is not the subject of today's post, but the main focus is to know what

Spinach

Image
I used to hate spinach (saw it more as a detox) as a veggie option for a long time until recently when I made it work for me and it had been yielding without tummy bugs. I grew up to not only steam spinach but blanch it if you ask and I get all manners of tummy troubles a day after, so I grew to dislike spinach. As a student I met some ibo girls that made me love ugwu (pumpkin leaves) and so I discarded spinach but during the dry seasons, ugwu is so untouchable. All these pushed me into finding a way out, so I can eat my spinach with all its nutrients intact and not having to frequent the bathroom 12 hours after. I got some spinach from the garden on Saturday and I wanted to just share what I did with it. Fresh spinach from garden Ingredients 1. 2 handful of Spinach (preferably baby spinach) 2. Red Oil (be careful because 1tbsp of Palm oil is 120 calories, add as desired) 3. 2 Ripe tomatoes 4. 3 Hot Scotch Bonnet pepper (Rodo) 5. 1 big ball of red onion 6. 1 smok

Motivation Monday

Image
google Motivation Mondays on my blog will be about featuring personalities who had done extra to achieve their goals in life. It is all about the extra steps towards being better at issues they are passionate about and ready to do all what it takes to be best at it. google I intended bringing on people who have experienced success in their weight loss journey and other journeys in life to this blog but I somehow realized people are a bit skeptical about appearing online and for God's sake I understand that quite well because I personally will have reservations on being featured anywhere in a public blog. Anyways I contacted a friend and she obliged but not without some restrictions. You can only get to  know about her and her journey if you will follow her on IG and support her blog on Sparkpeople . This lady had been so much of an inspiration to my journey through life and especially the determination to lose weight and be healthy. I know she has a s

Product Review: I5 Smart Bracelet

Image
I had a Fitbit activity tracker two years ago and it got lost never to be found again. I got a new tracker but not a Fitbit this time, it is called I5 Smart Bracelet . I realized there are hundreds of such activity trackers with no popular brand names that are out now for our use. I ordered my own tracker from AliExpress at a cheap rate of about $20 (N6,000.00) approximately. When it arrived in the mail, I sincerely did not know what to expect considering the cheapness of the product, I was preparing my mind for the worst ranging from a hyper-counting of my steps, to a faulty band, low battery etc. But with over two weeks of consistent use, I had really been surprised and impressed. Surprises : 1. Not different from the Fitbit I had 2 years back 2. Steps counting are almost near accurate (fitbit was not exact either) 3. It was not ambiguous 4. Battery life is quite reasonable (chargeable) 5. The color was just perfect for my skin. 6. There is a buzz feature t

Valentine's Month Walking for Love

Image
The first month tagged #ProjectScaleDown was a huge success, save three days within the 31 days when I was down with flu I worked out every single day and I had a 4.2lbs loss to show for it, if I lost 4.2lbs consistently for 12 months I would be 50.4lbs less by December and trust me that is way beyond my weight goal of 145lbs.  I followed all the instructions as I spelled them out in my first blog this year and I am reaping it's benefits because the scale is going down. This is February, the month of love and I will love to give some love to this body. No stress, just some walking comfort for my body. I am intending to walk this month, 6 days in a week till I can attain 10,000 steps per day i.e. 5 miles approximately. I have my calendar designed and ready to be executed just like I did in January .  I have concluded tagging this year's challenges as #ProjectScaleDown , this is the hashtag you will follow on twitter and then the mini hashtag defines the month.

Day 1 of the rest of the story

Image
I started with Insanity Max: 30 as promised today 31st August, 2015. It is the first day on a 60 day calendar (So help me God). First day (tagged Cardio Challenge )is really ridiculous but worth it, I am so out of shape that I maxed out at 2 minutes (lol), I am sure Shaun T had never had a record of anyone like that (lol). Just as I said earlier, today is the first day of the rest of the story. As required, I took my statistics (measurements, weight and pictures) today to make a comparison at the end of 2 months. Did I sweat? I was drenched What was the workout like? Very challenging, as I kept maxing out at every 5 minutes of circuit. I almost punched the guy in the face (imagining he was with me) but not as much as I always want to with Jillian Michaels. Shaun T has some encouraging words to keep you going. I am going to rest my head now getting ready for the morrow's "wakabout" (activities) What challenging workout have you had in a while?

Meatless or Motivation Monday

Image
It's either or both a motivational Monday or a meatless Monday. Either of the two I am still going strong today, had a meatless day by having a fish full day with my meals. Motivation wise, I was on my feet the better of today despite the soreness from T25 on Saturday. Ouch!!! "Public paid Announcement" Insanity Max 30 starts on the 31st of August 2015 and not today as scheduled. I am on some "stuff" that would not accommodate any high intensity workout for now. Don't mind me, I just had to hold on a bit. A friend just announced her baby bump today and I am so happy for her . Meanwhile, so that the day is not blank, I am walking at least a mile per day to keep body and soul in shape. See you on maxing out day.
